Small Business Blueprint

Statement

This week, I laid out a working blueprint to help Colorado small businesses grow, create jobs and keep our economy on the road to recovery. I have heard from small business owners, entrepreneurs and lenders from across the state, and I took all those voices into consideration when forming this working blueprint to assist our smaller entrepreneurs.

Specifically, this blueprint would:

* Increase the size of Small Business Administration (SBA) loans for small business job creators
* Expand the reach of SBA loans
* Waive unnecessary restrictions on the microloan program
* Cut red tape on innovation

As Congress takes up new efforts to support small businesses in the coming weeks, I will work hard to ensure these priorities are included in the legislative package.

Small businesses are struggling to stay afloat, let alone hire new workers, as lending has come to a halt. It is vital to our recovery that they have the resources they need to grow and create new, good-paying job, and I will continue to put forward additional ideas to help Main Street businesses across our state. I am dedicated to making sure we get the flywheel spinning again, so Colorado small businesses have access to the lines of credit they need to expand and help our economy recover.
