Statement of Governor Mark R. Warner —
On the death of William F. Parkerson, Jr. —

"I am saddened to learn of the death of Bill Parkerson, who served Henrico County and the Commonwealth for more than a quarter century.

"Few can match Bill's lifetime of service to his state and his nation, which included heroic military duty in World War II and election as a local prosecutor, member of the House of Delegates and Virginia Senate, and as chairman of the Virginia Lottery Board.

"In his quiet, gentlemanly way, Bill demonstrated an exceptional sense of public service and generously offered encouragement as I began my own career in public life. I join Virginians in expressing my sorrow at his passing."
