Thousands of educators throughout our district work every day to strengthen our communities. From the tenured professors at East Carolina to custodial workers in Onslow County, each of these individuals is indispensable in our education system.
We have the basic infrastructure in place to compete educationally with any school system. With an outstanding regional university, numerous community colleges, and a multitude of both public and private primary schools, we have many of the tools needed to strengthen our district. We must embrace programs that cover liberal arts, technical and trade certifications programs and adult education so that our citizens have skills needed for both today's economy and tomorrow's. Johnny Rouse will make education a priority in Washington and will work to end the unfunded mandates that cripple our schools.
