Rep. Courtney Posts Final Health Care Proposal Online For Public Review And Scrutiny

Statement

Congressman Joe Courtney released the following statement following the White House's presentation of the final health care proposal:

"The need for health care reform has been the subject of great debate for generations. I for one have been focused on creating a system that is accessible, affordable and provides quality coverage to Connecticut's residents and all Americans."

"As I have always done at each step of the way, I will read the updated legislation and the proposed "fixes' to make sure they achieve the goals that for more than twenty years, I have sought to realize."

"To keep my constituents up-to-date on the health care reform discussion, I have posted the new reconciliation amendments on my website."

"Throughout this year-long process, I have carefully listened to the many strongly held opinions of my constituents at numerous Town Hall meetings, telephone Town Hall conference calls, senior centers, hospitals, and during constituent home visits. I have conscientiously read the bills introduced by the House and Senate and will take the time to review this final proposal before casting my vote."

"I will consider the legislation carefully, the diverse views of my constituency, and also what I believe to be in the best interest of our region and country. In the meantime, I urge all constituents to continue to share their thoughts about this proposal with my staff which will continue to keep me up-to-date on your views."
