Dear Mr. Speaker and Members of the House:

I herewith return House Bill 1241 and veto the same.

House Bill 1241 is an Act to establish an additional time period during which fireworks may be sold and discharged and to revise certain provisions regarding county regulation of fireworks.

The effect of this bill is to allow the sale and the discharge of fireworks during the period from December 23rd through January 2nd. While I would have no objection to the idea of allowing the discharge of fireworks on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, I believe allowing the discharge of fireworks during Christmas Eve and Christmas Day is inappropriate.
