Continuing to grow a top-level general election campaign, U.S. Senate nominee Alexi Giannoulias today announced the addition of Jordan Kaplan, a seasoned national finance consultant who served as Finance Director to President Barack Obama's 2004 Illinois Senate race and as his Illinois Finance Director for Obama for America in 2008.
"Together with Jordan, this great campaign and the people of Illinois will say no to what's broken in Washington and move this great country forward. I am the first U.S. Senate candidate in Illinois history to refuse donations from corporate PACs and federal lobbyists, and on my first day in office as Illinois State Treasurer, I ended pay to play and enacted some of the most sweeping ethics reforms in Illinois history," said Giannoulias. "Unfortunately, after over a decade in Washington, my opponent has proven more interested in taking millions from Wall Street and corporate special interests than in fighting for the interests of Illinois working families."
Kaplan, a Joliet, Illinois native, joins Alexi for Illinois from the New Partners Consulting firm. Kaplan played a pivotal role on President Obama's 2004 Senate campaign, continued to work for him through his national PAC Hopefund and went on to serve as the Illinois Finance Director at Obama for America in 2008.
"Jordan adds a tremendous wealth of experience and respected relationships from throughout Illinois to our growing, dynamic team," said Alexi for Illinois campaign manager Mike Rendina. "With his wealth of experience from campaigns for the Senate and the White House, he will be an asset to our grassroots campaign that will always put people ahead of politics."
