Capito Statement On Toyota Hearing In House Oversight And Government Reform Committee

Statement

Date: Feb. 23, 2010
Location: Washington, DC

Rep. Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., today issued the following statement regarding the Toyota hearing in the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee:

"Anytime safety becomes an issue, it is critically important that all of the facts come to light and are discussed openly. Today's hearing was the first step in that process.

"I appreciate Toyota's openness at the Committee hearing. Mr. James Lentz, President and Chief Operating Officer of Toyota Motor Sales USA, affirmed that Toyota needs to do a better job of handling the problems that it faces.

"While the Toyota Motor Corporation works with Congress to address its safety issues, I remain steadfast in my commitment to the 1,050 West Virginia workers at the Toyota engine and transmission plant in Buffalo. These workers are among the best of the West Virginia workforce and deserve our full support until this unfortunate situation is resolved."
