The Mike Quigley Foreign Policy Agenda

End the war responsibly:End the war responsibly: We must end the war in Iraq responsibly and swiftly so we can refocus our efforts on fighting against the Taliban and al Qaeda in Afghanistan. We must also, and at the same time, secure nuclear weapons and nuclear materials from terrorists, work with our international partners to address a global economic crisis, and renew American diplomacy to support strong alliances and to seek a lasting peace in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Encourage multi-lateral relationships: Commissioner Quigley supports President Obama's plan to use the power of direct American diplomacy to pressure rogue regimes like Iran to give up their pursuit of weapons of mass destruction. He agrees with the President's vision that the last eight years of unilateral actions were misguided and that a foreign policy based on multi-lateral relationships is the path we must take.

Reduce dependence on foreign oil: Mike strongly believes that U.S. dependence on foreign sources of oil is one of the most important national security issues facing our nation. The economic stimulus measures dedicated to green technology and breaking this dependence will make our nation safer, save the environment and create good paying jobs that will stay in America.

Take politics out of our intelligence operations: Mike also applauds the President's recommendation to give the Director of National Intelligence a fixed term so that politics will never again pervade our intelligence apparatus.

Common Sense Reform: Mike will support common sense reforms by leading efforts to mandate accurate loan disclosures, reform our bankruptcy system so consumers can restructure their debt and stop credit card companies from taking advantage of people.
