The following is a statement from U.S. Senate nominee Alexi Giannoulias in reaction to the one-year anniversary of Congressman Mark Kirk's vote against the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 that has created jobs across Illinois:
"One year ago today, Congressman Mark Kirk voted in lockstep with his Republican Party against the federal stimulus, a plan aimed at putting people back to work and giving working families one of the largest tax cuts in American history.
"Congressman Kirk's vote against creating jobs in Illinois was not surprising given that he doesn't think unemployment is a big issue. Congressman Kirk is part of what is broken in Washington and his record of supporting the failed economic policies of the past will do nothing to move us forward."
