Congressman Chris Murphy (CT-5) released the following statement on the news that U.S. District Judge Janet C. Hall has ruled in favor of the Pratt & Whitney workers, stopping the company from shipping jobs from the Cheshire Engine Center and the Connecticut Airfoil and Repair Operations in East Hartford out of state.
"This decision tells us what we already knew - that Pratt was not bargaining in good faith with their dedicated workers, the State, and the Congressional delegation after announcing plans to close Cheshire. Now, with this court-imposed breather, it's time for Pratt to get serious about negotiating a deal with labor and government to keep these jobs here for the long haul. I have been proud to stand with the Machinists working in my hometown in this effort, but it's only half-time, so we've got to keep fighting."
