Murphy Statement On Simsbury's Selection As One Of The "Dozen Distinctive Destinations" Nationwide By The National Trust For Historic Preservation

Statement

Date: Feb. 3, 2010
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Chris Murphy (CT-5) released the following statement as Simsbury announced it has been chosen as one of the National Trust for Historic Preservation's 2010 Dozen Distinctive Destinations.

"Simsbury has always been a special place in our state, and now it's being recognized as one of the most desirable destinations in the country for its charm and recreational opportunities. This is a fantastic day for the residents Simsbury, First Selectman Mary Glassman, and the local businesses that will undoubtedly reap the rewards of this much-deserved honor.

"Simsbury now has the chance to be chosen as a "fan favorite' against the other eleven communities selected as National Trust for Historic Preservation "Distinctive Destinations.' So everyone in town needs to join me and get online to make sure that Simsbury comes out on top - so vote early, and vote often.

"Being on this short list and competing for top honors in this national contest may mean a few more kayaks in the Farmington River this spring or a bit of a wait for a table at our favorite local restaurants, but it's well worth the buzz and business it will generate across town."
