Doctors Caucus Offers Transparency In Health Care Debate

Members of the House of Representatives Doctors Caucus opened the doors for a discussion on health care reform, allowing the public and Majority leads to hear alternative plans and provision for quality and affordable access for all Americans.

Doctors Caucus members invited Speaker Pelosi to the hearing "Open Doors: Shining the Light on the Health care Debate," but unfortunately her absence reflected a lack of cooperation to find solutions agreed upon by both sides of the aisle.

Congressman Boozman (R-AR) a member of the Doctors Caucus, Members of Congress with professional health backgrounds, hosted the hearing to get input on the health care reform bills passed by the House and the Senate. Witnesses included Paul Fronstin, Ph.D. -- Employee Benefit Research Institute, John Sheils, Lewin Group, Dr. Christopher Hughes - PA State Director of Doctors for America, Marge Krueger - Communications Workers of America District 13 and Jim Martin - 60 Plus Association.

"Providing access to quality and affordable health care and health insurance needs to be the bottom line of health care reform. The absence of leaders of the Majority who were invited to testify about the closed-door negotiations was frustrating because the insights offered are valuable to crafting a final bill that will satisfy the needs of all Americans. My colleagues and I will bring these ideas to the attention of Speaker Pelosi when she offers the Minority a seat at the table," Boozman said.
