Moran Pledges To Repeal Government Takeover Of Health Care

Congressman Jerry Moran became one of the first Members of Congress today to sign The Club for Growth's "Repeal It!" pledge, to repeal the Democrats' health care reform legislation should it become law.

Moran opposes the Democrats' health care reform legislation and voted against Speaker Nancy Pelosi's health care reform bill, which passed in November despite Moran's vocal opposition to the bill.

"Pelosi-Reid health care reform is one pill Kansans cannot afford to swallow," Moran said. "Not only has the writing of health care reform legislation been influenced by personal handouts and political payoffs, but the House- and Senate-passed bills fail to make quality coverage more affordable and accessible."

The "Repeal It!" pledge commits Moran to "sponsor and support legislation to repeal any federal health care takeover passed in 2010, and replace it with real reforms that lower health care costs without growing government."

The Club for Growth's public campaign, which began today, seeks to rally the support of elected officials and citizens to fight to repeal the Democrats' health care reform legislation should it become law.

Last year, Moran received a 96 percent rating from The Club for Growth for his votes to eliminate wasteful spending. The Club for Growth is a fiscally conservative organization that promotes economic growth through limited government and economic freedom.
