Titus Cosponsors Legislation To Block Congressional Pay Raise On First Day Back In Session

Congresswoman Dina Titus of Nevada's Third District released the following statement today after cosponsoring H.R. 4255, the Stop the Automatic Pay Raise for Members of Congress in FY2011 Act, on the first day of the new Congressional session. Titus cosponsored similar legislation in 2009 that was passed into law.

"Last year, as my constituents struggled through the worst economic recession in a generation, I successfully joined with my colleagues to prevent a pay raise for members of Congress. While the recession has technically ended, too many of my constituents continue to face hardships, from making a mortgage payment to putting food on the table. Once again, this Congress must make a statement that we are here to work for the American people, not ourselves. We must reject a pay raise for Members of Congress and get to work creating jobs and putting Nevadans back to work."
