Congresswoman Chellie Pingree issued the following statement on Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield of Maine's proposed 22.9% rate increase.
"Asking for a 23% rate increase for individual insurance rates in the middle of a recession is outrageous and is an example of why we need to pass comprehensive health care reform. Maine families and small businesses absolutely can't keep up with insurance companies that keep increasing rates at such astronomical rates. This system just isn't sustainable."
