Congressman Doggett: The Path To Peace And Security Will Not Be Found Through A Wider War

Statement

President Obama announced orders to substantially increase American troops in Afghanistan. After the tragedy of 9/11, I voted to send our Armed Forces to Afghanistan to hold those responsible accountable for their actions. As I said this morning during a speech on the floor of the House of Representatives, I agree with much of what our President said, but with little of what he would do. The better exit strategy is to have fewer troops who need to exit. We must honor the sacrifice of those courageously serving by putting fewer of them in harm's way.
