Sessions: "An Obama Jobs Conference Would Be Funny If It Weren't So Sad"

U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (TX-32) today released the following remarks on President Obama's latest economic and employment public relation campaigns:

"Now that the American people are suffering from over 10 percent unemployment, President Obama has decided that it's time for yet another economic public relations campaign to disguise his policies that are killing jobs in America.

"Utilizing a tax-and-spend agenda unsettlingly similar to that of President Jimmy Carter, President Obama is pitting the government and its tax code against the success of the American worker and American business. With the free enterprise system suffocating under government mandates resulting in massive job loss, President Obama is planning a White House conference on jobs. The irony would be funny if it weren't so sad. Millions of Americans are experiencing the painful reality of joblessness -- unable to make ends meet and provide for their families. Meanwhile, President Obama continues to peddle an agenda that will kill an additional 10 million American jobs under government-run health care, the National Energy Tax, and card check unionization.

"The Democrat prescription for America's economy has been more government rules, regulations, workplace interference, and higher taxes that discourage investment and job growth. Now the deficit stands at an all time high, and President Obama is banking on Congress raising the debt ceiling by at least a trillion dollars yet again.

"In better news for the American people -- and the Chinese, President Obama is reportedly considering adopting a Republican idea introduced by Congressman Jeb Hensarling to use repaid TARP funds to reduce the deficit. I can only hope that President Obama's new-found concern for our nation's burgeoning deficits produces change Americans can believe in.

"I encourage President Obama to continue developing his listening skills and to work with Republicans in Congress to implement more common-sense, pro-growth economic policies. The top priorities of Congress and the President should be reducing the deficit, cutting spending, lowering taxes, and eliminating excessive mandates to help create an environment for the job creators of our nation, American businesses, to grow, invest, and hire more workers. I stand ready to work with President Obama to help achieve these goals."

-Make 20% of earned small business income tax free

-Extend bonus depreciation and special expensing for new capital investments

* Lowers Taxes on Manufacturing
-Keep taxes on manufacturing earnings to less than 25% for global competitiveness
