Lummis: Democrats Unveil Gov't Takeover Of Health Care

Statement

U.S. Representative Cynthia Lummis, R-Wyo., issued the following statement after House Democrat leaders unveiled their latest plan for a government takeover of health care:

"After weeks of meeting behind closed doors, Democrat leaders today unveiled yet another health care plan that will raise health care costs, add to our national debt, and hurt seniors, small businesses and families. This new plan follows months of secret negotiations and backroom deals, and flies in the face of rising opposition by the American people.

"The health care reform bill I support, H.R. 3400, would start with an immediate, meaningful, and fiscally responsible investment in those that need the most help followed by an incremental, transparent reform process so Congress can get this right the first time. Those in this country who need reform today should expect nothing less.

"We can fix what is broken in our health care system, without a massive government takeover. I will continue to fight on behalf of responsible health care solutions for the American people."
