Schumer, Gillibrand Introduce Congressional Resolution Honoring New York Yankees For Their World Series Win

Today, U.S. Senators Charles E. Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand introduced a congressional resolution honoring the New York Yankees for beating the Philadelphia Phillies and winning their 27th World Series, the most wins of any major league sports franchise. The resolution recognizes and honors the Yankees for their storied history, for their many contributions to the national pastime, and for continuing to carry the standards of character, commitment, and achievement for baseball and for the State of New York.

"The New York Yankees proved to the world last night that they are the greatest baseball team in the history of the sport," Schumer said. "Not only did the Yankees play their best to beat the Philadelphia Phillies, they brought home the pennant for a record breaking 27th time. I tip my hat to the Yankees for their love for the game and to all of Yankee nation. I can't think of a team more deserving of this honor and I know this is the least we can do to recognize their great accomplishments."
