Congresswoman Chellie Pingree issued the following statement on the announcement that President Barack Obama has won the Nobel Peace Prize:

"The Nobel Committee recognized that President Obama has not only done much to restore America's image abroad, but also to repair international relations and foster cooperation around the world. By reaching out across national, cultural and religious boundaries, the President has shown the world that the United States is willing to once again be a full partner in international diplomacy."
