Van Hollen Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month
Today Congressman Chris Van Hollen issued the following statement in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs from September 15 through October 15 annually:
"During this month-long celebration of Hispanic heritage we honor and pay tribute to the extraordinary contributions Hispanics have made to our country. The recent confirmation of the first Latina Supreme Court Justice, Ms. Sonia Sotomayor, makes this year's celebration particularly momentous. Economically, culturally, and politically, Latinos are a vital part of our nation. I am honored to represent a diverse Hispanic constituency in the Eighth Congressional District, who continue to make historical contributions to our community, state, and nation every day.
"Congress and President Obama are working hard to make sure all Americans -- including Hispanic Americans -- have the opportunity to pursue a quality education, good job opportunities, a home for their families, and affordable health care."
