"It is my sincere hope that President Obama puts more stock in his military commanders than he does the extreme left wing of his party"
U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, today made the following statement regarding MoveOn.org's call on President Obama to develop an "exit strategy" for Afghanistan.
"MoveOn.org should be ashamed of itself for pressuring President Obama to take an action that would clearly put American lives at risk both in Afghanistan and here at home. Losing in Afghanistan would allow al Qaeda and its supporters to regain their foothold there and prepare to launch additional 9/11-style attacks on America. It is my sincere hope that President Obama puts more stock in his military commanders than he does the extreme left wing of his party. I have faith he will resist these calls from the left to retreat in Afghanistan, because he recognizes that Afghanistan is the central front in the War on Terror and that winning there is critical to our national security."
