Baldwin Issues Statement on Release of President's Budget for FY 2005

The office of Rep. Tammy Baldwin, D-Wis., issued the following statement:

"The President's budget turns a deaf ear on the priorities of my constituents, specifically, jobs, health care, and education. Despite our staggering debt and enormous military and security commitments, the President is intent on taking care of the wealthiest Americans and corporations through tax cuts. These tax cuts for those who need them least, put a deep squeeze on our ability to create jobs, ensure health care, and provide a quality education to those who need them most. As a member of the House Budget Committee, I plan on advancing proposals that will focus on my constituents' strongest priorities, jobs, health care, and education, and fund those proposals by repealing that part of the Bush tax cut that benefits the very wealthiest individuals and corporations. This President funds most of his spending by borrowing and, thereby, burdening future generations. I think it's very important that we actually fund any increased expenditures that are contemplated."
