Congressman Adrian Smith (R-NE) today released the following statement on the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.
"On a Tuesday morning eight years ago, our country suffered a vicious attack. More than 2,000 Americans died that day and we continue to mourn those we lost while we work to honor their memories.
"Today is a day to remember the first responders who risked - and in many cases sacrificed - their lives to save the innocent victims of terrorists. We hold in our hearts the families of those who died that Tuesday morning.
"Today, we also take stock of our freedoms and liberty those who perpetrated these attack wished to destroy, and express our gratitude for those who serve our nation in its defense."
