Capito Questions Adding Trillions In Debt In Federal Budget
Rep. Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., released the following statement today as the House of Representatives voted on a $3.5 trillion budget that will double the national debt in just over five years:
"Families across West Virginia are cutting back or looking for ways to do more with less," said Capito. "Congress, on the other hand, is debating a $3.5 trillion budget that taxes too much, spends too much and borrows too much."
"This budget paves the way to double the national debt in a little over five years and triple it in 10 years. This comes after $700 billion for a financial rescue, nearly $800 billion for economic stimulus and trillions more set-aside as guarantees on investments in the financial markets."
"For the sake of our children and grandchildren, this can't continue forever."
