Boozman Hosts Health Care Town Halls
The debate on health care is on the minds of Americans and lawmakers during the August work period, and rightfully so.
As a health care provider I have seen the frustrations many Americans have with our health care system. There is nothing more discouraging than discovering a patient's insurance doesn't cover the cost of a procedure or having to find an inexpensive solution for patients who don't have health insurance.
We are all concerned about the future of our health care system and we are working to create legislation that will implement reforms that will allow us access to quality, affordable care. In order for any health care reform proposal to satisfy our needs we must craft legislation with input from the public. For many Americans that means making sure lawmakers hear and understand their thoughts and concerns on the current proposals. Living in a country where we are able to express our opinions in an open forum is something we can all be proud of.
However, I am disappointed by the lack of respect some people are showing. The stories about attacks on citizens who are expressing legitimate concern should be concerning to all Americans. We are all working very hard to find solutions that will benefit the future of our health care and I am happy to see so many citizens taking an active, respectful interest.
I appreciate the input from constituents at the Springdale health care reform town hall last week. It was a very constructive event that highlighted all points of view on the health care debate but there was overwhelming concern and opposition to H.R. 3200, the health care proposal being debated in the House of Representatives.
I welcome the opportunity to hear from you about your concerns and vision for health care reform. I hope to see you on Monday, August 24 at town halls in Harrison and Fort Smith.
