Boozman Listens to Constituents' Health Care Reform Concerns

U.S. Representative John Boozman, today welcomed Third District residents to discuss their ideas for health care reform at a town hall.

"This was a very constructive event. I think it is important that in order for successful health care reform that meets the needs of Americans, we must get input from our constituents. I appreciate people taking time out of their day to come and voice their opinions," Boozman said.

Following a short discussion with health care professionals, Boozman took questions from the more than 300 people who attended the town hall. Boozman heard comments from all points of view on the health care debate as well as overwhelming concern and opposition to H.R. 3200, the health care proposal being debated in the House of Representatives.

"I believe that we need access to quality, affordable health care. The majority of the people today said they were opposed to a government option and that they are not hopeful H.R. 3200 will improve our health care system," Boozman said. "I will not support a government takeover of our health care."

Boozman answered questions for more than four hours. All participants who wanted to ask a question or make a comment were able to do so.

Boozman plans to host additional health care town halls in Fort Smith and Harrison later this month.
