President's Immigration Plan Little More Than Guest Worker Program
DENVER, CO - Democratic Floor Whip Diana DeGette (D-CO) released the following statement on President Bush's new immigration proposal:
"Immigrants make significant contributions to our nation and our economy and are the backbone of many industries that would otherwise struggle to find workers. We have long needed a comprehensive solution addressing legalization and family reunification. The President's proposal appears to be little more than a temporary guest worker system. I sincerely hope that this is simply a starting point for the real immigration reform."
