House Approves Defense Appropriations Measure

Rep. Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., released the following statement after the House of Representatives approved the FY 2010 Defense Appropriations measure:

"Today we've seen broad bipartisan support for America's military community," said Capito. "Our service men and women serve with distinction and this bill will provide much needed funding for military equipment, key support programs and military personnel.

"I was particularly proud to support the much-deserved military pay raise included in this legislation, and was encouraged by the bill's support for family assistance and reintegration programs for the Reserves and National Guard. They put themselves in harm's way and they deserve our full support."

The Defense Appropriations measure was approved by the House of Representatives this afternoon with a wide bipartisan margin, 400-30.
