Bennet Statement on Judiciary Committee Approval of Judge Sotomayor Nomination

Michael Bennet, U.S. Senator for Colorado, released the following statement today after the Senate Judiciary Committee approved Judge Sonia Sotomayor's nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court. Her nomination will now move to the Senate floor for a vote.

"Judge Sonia Sotomayor will be a tremendous asset to the U.S. Supreme Court. She has a keen intellect, an impressive legal and academic background, and a deep understanding of how the Court's decisions affect the daily lives of all Americans.

"The Judiciary Committee's approval of her historic nomination is an important step forward, and the Senate should continue to give her full and fair consideration."
