Van Hollen Statement on the Energy and Commerce Committee Passage of Landmark Health Reform Legislation

Today, Congressman Chris Van Hollen, Assistant to the Speaker, issued the following statement on the House Energy and Commerce Committee passage of the American Affordable Health Choices Act:

"With the Energy and Commerce Committee passage of the American Affordable Health Choices Act, the House has made historic progress on health care reform. All three House committees of jurisdiction have passed this legislation, and as we head into the August district work period Members will be talking to their constituents and getting the message out that continuing the status quo is not an option. We must reduce costs, increase competition, and pass this landmark reform."
