The office of Rep. Frank Lucas, R-Okla., issued the following press release:

Rep. Frank Lucas is inviting high school students living in Oklahoma's Third Congressional District to participate in the 23rd Annual Congressional Art Competition: An Artistic Discovery.

An Artistic Discovery is a nationwide congressional high school art competition sponsored by the Congressional Arts Caucus and initiated by Members of Congress. More than 300 congressional offices have participated in the program. The first place winning entry from each congressional district will be displayed in the corridor tunnel leading to the U.S. Capitol Building for one year, where it will be seen by thousands of people visiting the nation's capital.

"I'm always pleased to offer this opportunity to aspiring artists," Lucas said. "This contest gives young Oklahomans the chance to showcase their artwork and receive national recognition."

The contest is open to high school students and will be hosted in Lucas's Canadian County office. Artwork submitted to the competition must be delivered to the submission sites by Monday, April 19. The winning piece will be sent to Washington, D.C. to be displayed for a year, and the winning artist will receive free airfare for two to participate in the Congressional Art Competition's ribbon-cutting ceremony on July 13 in Washington, D.C.
