Rep. Johnson's Statement on Tea Party Health Care Protests

On Friday, July 17, Tea Party Patriots demonstrated in front of district offices urging their representatives to oppose health care reform.

"I applaud the Tea Party Patriots for their involvement and activism on this and other issues," said Johnson. "It shows they care and are passionate about their communities, the state and their country. I understand citizens' concerns about the spending in Washington. It's one of the reasons I voted against the $700 billion Wall Street bailout. While Tea Party Patriots and I don't agree on many issues, I honor and encourage their right to gather, protest and make their voices heard. I pledge to listen to their thoughts on health care as I begin the task of considering reform legislation."
