Van Hollen Lauds Passage of the Energy and Water Appropriations Act

Today, Congressman Chris Van Hollen issued the following statement on House passage of the Energy and Water Development and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2010:

"Under the leadership of President Obama, the United States is committing itself to a new national clean energy policy for the 21st century, and this legislation advances that critical objective while making important investments in our nation's water infrastructure.

"I am also heartened by the wide-ranging support for Chesapeake Bay restoration initiatives included in this legislation. We were able to secure $1.84 million in funding for the Anacostia and Middle Potomac Rivers. I was pleased to join with Representative Connolly of Virginia to obtain a total of $9 million for important Chesapeake Bay oyster recovery projects. He is a dedicated partner in our effort to restore the health of America's largest estuary, the Chesapeake Bay.

"This bipartisan bill reflects the clean energy and water infrastructure priorities of the American people. I was proud to join my colleagues in voting to pass it."
