Moran Votes ‘No' On $410 Billion Spending Bill

Congressman Jerry Moran today opposed a $410 billion dollar FY2009 Omnibus spending bill for foreign and domestic spending programs which includes a 6.2 percent increase from last year's government spending totals. The bill passed the House today 245-178.

"Today, Congress passed a $410 billion spending bill that offers no relief from rampant spending, which unfortunately has become business as usual for the Congress," Moran said. "This comes at a time when our country's economic situation is calling for more fiscal restraint and for responsible government spending. Rolling many separate bills into one giant spending bill is simply irresponsible on Congress' part because it lacks safeguards needed to oversee government spending responsibly. Spending more will not help the economic situation for Americans, especially for future generations who will have to pay our debts."
