Carson Praises ICC For Bringing Charges Against Sudanese President

Congressman André Carson released the following statement today after the chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) filed genocide charges against Sudan's president for a five-year campaign of violence in Darfur.

"I commend ICC Chief Prosecutor, Luis Moreno-Ocampo, for working to ensure that criminal charges be brought against Sudanese President Omar Hassan al-Bashir for the genocide and other crimes against humanity that have occurred in the Darfur region.

"The ICC's actions send a clear and resounding message that inhumane atrocities committed by tyrants and brutal dictators will not go unnoticed or unpunished."
