Moore Comments On The Ameican Clean Energy And Security Act

Statement

Congresswoman Gwen Moore (D-Wisc.) today made the following comments about the American Clean Energy and Security Act, which the House of Representatives is expected to pass today.

"The energy bill passed by the House today is a much needed, responsible measure that will reduce the amount of pollution pushed into our atmosphere and start to reverse the effects of global warming that threaten our planet.

The incentives in this bill have the potential to create millions of new jobs through new, clean energy technologies and infrastructure, revitalize our economy, and reduce our dependence on foreign oil. The legislation now also contains consumer protections to help allay rate hikes for electricity, heating oil, and natural gas. Doing nothing is not an option. The cost of inaction is just too high."
