Shaheen Annouces Over $8 Million For Affordable Housing In New Hampshire

Press Release

Date: June 30, 2009
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen today announced that New Hampshire will receive $8,269,787 to jumpstart affordable housing projects across the state and create jobs. Funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's (HUD) new Tax Credit Assistance Program (TCAP) will allow state housing finance agencies to fund affordable rental housing projects, while stimulating employment in the hard-hit construction trades.

"In this difficult economy, it's important that we create affordable housing opportunities for New Hampshire's families and create good jobs to bolster our state's economy, and this funding will achieve both those goals," said Shaheen. "I look forward to seeing these affordable housing projects get underway quickly."

HUD is awarding these TCAP grants by formula to state housing credit agencies to complete construction of qualified housing projects that will provide affordable housing opportunities. For more information, please visit: http://www.hud.gov/.
