Statement on GM Announcement that Janesville Plant Will Remain Idle

"While we have long known that keeping the Janesville plant idle was a possibility, I am profoundly disappointed by GM's announcement today. Rock County communities are already feeling the substantial impact of GM's initial decision to cease production here.

Our local, state, federal, union, and business leaders came together magnificently to advocate for the plant specifically, and Rock County jobs in general. This was a shining example of the Wisconsin tradition in which communities pull together for the common good. It was an honor to work with everyone involved in this effort.

Moving forward we must continue to work together. My efforts to strengthen the area's economy, create good jobs, and assist struggling families during this difficult time will continue."
