Today, Congressman Tim Walz voted to create jobs, revitalize the economy, and help reduce harmful carbon emissions from vehicles.

H.R. 2751, the Consumer Assistance to Recycle and Save Act of 2009, also known as "Cash for Clunkers" passed the House today and will support approximately 1 million new car or truck purchases. The bill gives consumers the ability to receive vouchers of up to $4,500 to help pay for new, more fuel efficient cars by trading in their old gas guzzlers.

"This bill will reinvigorate the auto industry while helping to reduce our impact on the environment at the same time," said Walz. "It is important that we as American's keep the environment in mind while helping to create jobs and rejuvenate our economy and this bill does that. That's why I'm pleased to see us use this program both to accelerate car sales and to get some of the least gas efficient vehicles off the road."
