Sen. Cornyn: Senate Supplemental Bill Will Help Hurricane Ike Victims, Says Funding Is Long Overdue For Texas

U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, issued the following statement after the FY09 Supplemental Bill passed the Senate with his support that includes important funding for Texans still recovering from Hurricane Ike.

"The Senate approved legislation today that will go a long way toward helping residents, businesses and communities still recovering in the wake of Hurricane Ike. The bill extends the 100 percent reimbursement for debris removal and emergency services, while also increasing the federal reimbursement for repairs and improvements made to infrastructure, utilities, water control and other related facilities, community buildings and public facilities from 75 to 90 percent. The reimbursement is retroactive and it does not have an expiration date. This is a long overdue step in helping all Texans get back on their feet again after last year's devastating storms."
