Rep. Foster Announces Rural Development Grant For Prophetstown
Today, Rep. Bill Foster (IL-14) announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture has awarded the City of Prophetstown with a Rural Business Enterprise Grant worth $99,500.
"These funds are vital in promoting the economic development of Prophetstown and Whiteside County," said Foster. "According to the USDA, this project will save 113 jobs and assist 33 businesses while revitalizing downtown Prophetstown."
The grant will be used to upgrade the sidewalks and street lighting in the downtown business district of Prophetstown.
"The grant is very much appreciated," Prophetstown Mayor Steve Swanson said. "The City Council, myself and the citizens of Prophetstown are looking forward to the improvements this grant will allow."
