Statement

Date: June 4, 2009
Location: Washington, DC

Speaker Nancy Pelosi released the following statement in response to more than $15 million granted to the San Francisco International Airport under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act:

"The Department of Homeland Security's announcement today that it would allocate more than $15 million to San Francisco International Airport is welcome news for the Bay Area, and will specifically go to improving the inspection of checked bags.

"This money not only goes to creating new jobs in the workforce, as Congress and President Obama promised - it also keeps America and the Bay Area safer for travelers, domestically and internationally. These are needed results, thanks to the swift implementation of the economic recovery act."
