Wicker Statement on Pending Nomination of Congressman John McHugh as Secretary of the Army

U.S. Sen. Roger Wicker, R-Miss., a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, today applauded the selection of Rep. John McHugh as Secretary of the Army.

"The nomination of John McHugh to serve as the next Secretary of Army is positive news for our men and women in the Army. As a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, I look forward to assisting in his confirmation process and to working with him to strengthen and improve our Army.

"I also want to commend the job of Secretary Pete Geren. Secretary Geren assumed the post shortly after the problems at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center surfaced and was able to resolve that incident. The secretary has also been an outstanding ambassador for our Army and has served our country the highest regards possible for our men and women of uniform."
