Creigh Deeds' Statement on Bob McDonnell's Remarks at the VEA Forum

Virginia gubernatorial candidate Creigh Deeds released the following statement following Bob McDonnell's remarks at the VEA Gubernatorial Candidate Forum in Hampton:

"Tonight Bob McDonnell offered nothing but empty rhetoric before the members of the Virginia Education Association. He has opposed the agenda of the VEA and pro-education Democrats and Republicans throughout his entire career in public service and as Governor would reverse the progress we've made under Mark Warner and Tim Kaine.

"McDonnell was in lock step with George Allen to cut $400 million for public schools and stood with Jim Gilmore to oppose school infrastructure investments. Under Democratic leadership, McDonnell just said "no," vigorously opposing the largest investment in K-12 education under Mark Warner and Tim Kaine's administration.

My experience, as a leader for the VEA's agenda in the legislature and as the father of four children raised in Virginia's public schools, and my detailed vision for creating better schools and better jobs make me the best-prepared candidate to be Virginia's next education Governor."
