Ellison Scores 100% Peace Record
Congressman Keith Ellison (D-Minneapolis) received a 100% voting record on peace and security issues according to Peace Action West, a grassroots organization that advocates "the best values of the American people."
"I am honored by the recognition given me by Peace Action West for my advocacy of peace, human rights, and genuine security issues. When I first came to the Congress, I did so as an advocate for peace, economic prosperity for working families, environmental sustainability, and civil and human rights. I remain vigorously committed to these issues," Ellison stated.
Ellison was one of only fifty-eight Members of Congress who received 100% on Peace Action West's scorecard. Members were rated on ten issues including: missile defense funding, torture and military aid, reducing wasteful military spending to fund human needs, and the true cost of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
"We are happy to honor Representative Ellison's strong voting record on critical peace and security issues," said Jon Rainwater, Executive Director of Peace Action West. "Our supporters appreciate that he not only votes the right way, but is an outspoken advocate for a just, diplomatic foreign policy that will truly make Americans and the world safer. We look forward to working with Representative Ellison and our supporters in Minnesota to promote a foreign policy based on strategic cooperation and human rights."
