The office of Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart, R-Fla., issued the following press release:

Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart (R-Fla.) today chided Sen. Kerry for his pattern of "day-later clarifications to explain his own foggy statements on issues important to our nation and to Florida."

"Once again Senator Kerry has had to explain what he really meant to say. His latest example is oil drilling off the coast of Florida, something nearly every Floridian strongly opposes," Diaz-Balart said. "Instead of making it clear in his speech, Kerry had to take an extra day to elaborate on his views. Did he need more time to think it over?"

"I wish Kerry would make up his mind on an issue and then make it clear to the rest of us," Diaz-Balart continued. "He has a well-established pattern of day-later clarifications to explain his own foggy statements on issues important to our nation and to Florida."

"In contrast, President Bush has been consistent in his opposition to drilling off Florida's coast. I wish Kerry could be unambiguous about anything," Diaz-Balart concluded.
