The office of Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart, R-Fla., issued the following statement:
Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart (R-Fla.) expressing his grief over the terrorist attacks in Spain which have resulted in more than 180 deaths and more than 1,000 injured, released the following statement:
"Our prayers and sympathy are with the Spanish people today," Diaz-Balart said. "Spain has been an staunch ally in the War on Terror. If anyone has forgotten the immense tragedy and pain of the 9/11 attacks, they need only look across the Atlantic to see how very real the threat of terrorism is.
"Although the impact of this cowardly act is heartbreaking, it will not break our will," Diaz-Balart continued. "We stand strong with Spain and President Aznar in continuing to fight these gutless enemies. As President Bush has said many times, 'We will not waver; we will not tire; we will not falter; and we will not fail.' May the people of Spain know that we understand their pain and grief, and the United States will stand united with them."
