Moran Opposes $3.6 Trillion Democrat Budget Proposal

Congressman Jerry Moran today voted against wasteful spending by opposing the $3.6 trillion House Democrat budget proposal. In a separate vote today, Moran voted in favor of a budget alternative to end federal economic bailouts and to place a temporary moratorium on earmarks.

"I cannot support a budget that spends trillions and increases taxes on Kansans," Moran said. "The federal government continues amassing a massive debt at an alarming rate. Spending trillions will not help the economic situation for Americans, especially for future generations who will have to pay our debts. Congress needs to be fiscally responsible and doubling the national debt in five years - which the Democrat budget will do - is not responsible and undermines any hope for recovery to our economy."

Today, Moran voted in favor of a budget alternative, H.Con.Res. 85, to end economic bailouts. Moran believes that taxpayers' dollars should not be used to bailout private businesses and banks.

The alternative budget would also place a temporary moratorium on earmarks to curb wasteful spending and to end entitlement program spending. Moran has long supported the need for fiscal discipline and accountability and voted in favor of the budget alternative to end wasteful "stimulus" programs.

Moran has consistently voted in opposition to every stimulus and bailout plan championed by both the Obama and Bush administrations.
