Aderholt Statement after State of the Union

Date: Jan. 21, 2004
Location: Washington, DC

WASHINGTON DC - - Congressman Robert Aderholt (R-Haleyville) attended the President's State of the Union Address in Washington, DC, this evening. Congressman Aderholt made the following statement at the address's conclusion:

"As the President pointed out, he is solid in his commitment to Iraq, and his commitment to making this world a safer place. We've already seen the results of our hard work on this issue, as the President mentioned, in Libya's recent decision to disarm.

"I am pleased to hear President Bush is continuing to focus on the economy and jobs. Our work on revitalizing the economy has already paid off -- last May, we passed into law the "Jobs and Growth Tax Relief Act," which grew the economy and lowered the unemployment rate. We will continue to address our nation's economic security, in part, by our continuing efforts to create more jobs. It was also good to hear of an interest in helping families and small businesses deal with rising health care costs.

"Above all, I was especially pleased to hear the President talk about the importance of preserving families, schools, and religious congregations - all of which are vital institutions that make our nation strong."
